Chocolate Mug Cake

Chocolate mug cakes have become quite popular, providing a quick, easy and tasty dessert.  It may not be the prettiest of cakes, but it’s a tasty treat once in a while.

Chocolate Mug Cake

  • Servings: 1 mug cake
  • Difficulty: easy

  • 4 tbs plain flour
  • 4 tbs sugar
  • 2 tbs cocoa powder
  • 3 tbs milk
  • 2 tbs oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Peanut butter chocolate (I used Whittakers, any choc chips will do, or leave it out entirely)


  1. Add flour, sugar and cocoa powder to a mug and mix until well combined.
  2. Add milk, oil and vanilla and stir, ensuring you mix in the flour from the bottom of the mug (a mini whisk makes this quite easy).
  3. Break pieces of chocolate in and stir, then microwave for 2 – 2½ minutes, then leave to sit for about 2 minutes.
